JOG FALLS !
Have you ever seen a train running by asoka Leyland engine if yes ….then you may have visited the jog falls , India ‘s longest (aroung 1000 ft). . .!
During the journey you will enjoy both the journey as well as goal (jog).I went there in full rainy day ,all through the journey ,I enjoyed the rain and greenery all around .I started from Bangalore taking shimoga express which reach there by 6:15AM which is the scheduled time for this train (for those who always complain against Indian railway) . After that I caught that amazing rail car having just two compartment and one asoka Leyland engine ……..only thing is that It was not having steering. During journey the average speed was 18 km/hr and price from shimoga to talguppa is 18 /- (talguppa is the last station of route ) .It took nearly 4 hrs and I keep on watching scenery all around !From talguppa We took cab and we reached JOG falls .Near the fall it looked like as if pure white smoke is coming out …..!I reached my destination …….and its really worth full! but still something was left …….that is to reach near to the fall ……means get down 900 FT in sharp slope and that in rainy season ………..nice trekking and after 30 minute I was just in front of JOG!!!!.Big rocks ……so much of water ….so much of enthusiasm….…….. ……and I !
I felt very relax in front these big rocks and in front of nature ……..I again become like child! I just went to one big rock near to the fall and sat and watched and become wet by the small droplets which were flying in air! I think going anywhere in rainy season is best time to visit nature ……everything looks natural ! But one precaution that people should be very careful otherwise if you slip …..You will be in trouble and go down with less luggage or possible then no luggage …..There is govt clock room so you can keep your luggage there !!!!If you want to live there then you can book govt guest house ……It cost around 250/person .nice facilities! If you want to save time you can use the bus instead of rail car ……(from talguppa to jog) .It takes around 90 min but I will recommend rail car …..If you are going before October ……because Indian railway is planning to remove narrow gauge and making it broad gauge (work is in progress) .
